a letter to the editor on Dec. 17. 2004:

UMKC chancellor

In recent articles about problems at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, resulting in the resignation of Chancellor Martha Gilliland, The Star has cited “civic leaders” who supported her to the very end. I wondered, however, if there are any such leaders who might actually support the faculty and the process of democracy in action by which they voted “no confidence” in Gilliland's administration?

Also, what vested interests might her supporters have had, by way of construction and consulting contracts? A bit more information would be most welcome.
